Vaughn currently serves as the Vice President of Manufacturing for a start-up business developing carbon free concrete and other building materials, Prometheus Materials. He graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in Social Relations in 1997. He was a recruited Division I swimmer who played water polo on the club team. After college, Vaughn went into the construction industry, working on large commercial and heavy civil construction projects nationwide. In late 2001, he moved back to his home state of Colorado to join a small manufacturing company, where he was awarded multiple US patents prior to landing in his current position.
Vaughn is also an active board and committee member of multiple corporate and partnership organizations, offering particular insight into his field of expertise.
Vaughn resides in Broomfield, CO, with his wife, Meghan, and two sons, Cooper and Asa. Vaughn and Meghan have created Big Waves Foundation Inc. in memory of their oldest son, Vaughn Jr. who was lost in June of 2018 to a violent gun crime.
Kelly Tirman, a passionate parent of two water polo players, is deeply committed to promoting the sport throughout the state of Colorado for all individuals. Despite not having played water polo in her youth due to societal norms, Kelly actively participated in various team sports. She distinctly remembers being advised that water polo was not an option for girls at the time and ended up focusing on golf in high school instead. Throughout her adult life, Kelly has observed the significant growth and inclusivity of water polo. Upon moving to Colorado Springs in 2022, she found herself not only watching her daughters play but also having the opportunity to finally jump in and play as well.
Brian is a certified USA Water Polo Coach and a N2-certified USA Swimming Official. He has coached with Warrior Aquatics polo, where his teenaged son plays, since 2023. Prior to this, Brian coached many seasons in other youth sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, and swimming. When coaching, Brian fosters the foundational role of swimming skills in water polo development.
Brian played varsity water polo at MIT while earning a Computer Science degree. He has played for over 25 years on the Denver Water Polo Masters team while also training and competing in Colorado Masters Swimming. A swimmer since age 9, he was named a High School All-American swimmer and recently a Masters Swimming All-American . He has been a Colorado state masters swimming event champion, specializing in middle distance freestyle. Brian has also played on recent medal-winning teams at USA Water Polo Masters Swimming Championship tournaments.
A seasoned technology executive, Brian has founded seven companies in telecommunications and software, and has acquired and sold numerous small businesses. He has served in leadership roles on multiple non-profit, for-profit, and educational boards. With the COHSWPA, Brian is committed to promoting access, striving for excellence, and fostering growth in water polo across all age levels.
Emily Perrotto is a dedicated member of the Colorado High School Water Polo Association Board of Directors and a passionate advocate for growing the sport throughout Colorado. As the proud parent of both a son and daughter who have played water polo since the age of nine, Emily has spent years supporting athletes at every stage of their development. Her family has been actively involved in the sport through local clubs, the Olympic Development Program (ODP), the Futures Water Polo League in California, and international training and competition in Croatia through the Water Polo Cruise. These experiences have provided Emily with a deep appreciation for athlete development and the many opportunities water polo creates at the local, national, and international levels.
Professionally, Emily is a Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Realty, where she is known for building meaningful relationships and delivering exceptional results. A Colorado native originally from Boulder County, she has lived on both the East and West Coasts as well as abroad, bringing a broad perspective to every endeavor. Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and International Business from Pepperdine University.
Emily brings expertise in marketing, strategic communications, negotiations, and client advocacy to her volunteer leadership. She is committed to expanding opportunities for student-athletes, strengthening Colorado’s water polo community, and helping the Association promote excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, and competitive opportunities throughout the state.
Frank Zamazal is a consultant and entrepreneur serving as Global Brand Ambassador for a biotechnology company specializing in liquid fertilizer manufacturing for the agricultural and turfgrass industries. He graduated with a baccalaureate from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a master’s degree in agronomy from Penn State, and an MBA from Louisiana State University. He grew up in Southern California playing water polo as a youngster for Santa Monica Tandem Aquatics, later Trojan Water Polo Club, playing varsity water polo and graduating from Loyola High School of Los Angeles, passing on USC for a walk-on opportunity at Cal. As of Spring 2025 Frank is a USAWP certified coach affiliated with Arapahoe Warrior Aquatics where his son has played on the age group travel team for the last five years and is now an entering freshman on the Arapahoe High School league team.
